Involuntary exclusion

In certain circumstances, Swiss casinos are legally obligated to issue an involuntary exclusion (see Article 80, Sections 1 and 2 Swiss Federal Act on Gambling).

A person will be excluded from gaming in the following circumstances:

• if it is known or suspected that the person
  • is heavily in debt
  • is unable to meet their financial obligations
  • is betting beyond their means (income and assets)
• if the casino’s own observations or the reports of a third party such as a specialist agency or social security office lead the casino to believe or suspect that the person is addicted to gaming.

Exclusions – whether voluntary or involuntary – apply indefinitely. They apply to all concessionary bricks-and-mortar casinos and online casinos throughout Switzerland as well as to the online platforms of Swisslos and Loterie Romande.
